"A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away...."

Today marked the first time that JJ Abrams has ever shot a film outside of the US, instead opting for the English capital London... Oh and did I mention that this film was Star Wars: Episode VII?

Yes! That's right! The first official day of filming has begun on the next instalment of the franchise. To commemorate the historical occasion, Bad Robot tweeted an image of the first film slate from the production, accompanied by the hashtag .

Call me over excited... but even seeing JJ Abrams name etched onto the first official clapper board in the traditional Star Wars logo has me thinking of everything this movie could be.

Co-starring Harrison Ford, Adam Driver and John Boyega, [Star Wars: Episode VII](movie:711158) will open in the UK on 18 December 2015.
