We still know few solid details about the upcoming Ridley Scott Halo 'digital feature' currently in development, but we have got our first piece of casting news.
According to The Wrap, The Good Wife star, Mike Colter, has grabbed a lead role in the film which is expected to follow the same format as Machinima's Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn web-series. The report also states the story is set in the 26th century and it revolves around a genetically-enhanced super soldier who is not Master Chief - the prime protagonist of the video game series.
Colter will play Marlowe in a script penned by Prison Break creator, Paul Scheuring. His character is described as "a rising star in a futuristic army who is troubled by aspects of the military industrial complex he inhabits. Approaching combat situations with caution and logic, he inspires loyalty in his fellow Spartans." With this in mind, Scott's Halo film could perhaps some interesting socio-political themes and won't simply be the action-packed explosion-fest many video game adaptations become.
The project is expected to premiere before the end of this year, with Microsoft promising more details at the E3 convention in June.
Of course, this isn't the only Halo adaptation in the works. Steven Spielberg is also executive producing a TV series based on Microsoft's flagship gaming property.
