One of the last Tenuous threads of Twihard hope of another Twilight movie has been severed by Robert Pattinson himself.
Devotees of the vampire franchise have been clinging onto the hope that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart will return for a cinematic rendering of The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, but R-Patz has put a stake in the fan fantasy.
Pattinson is at Cannes at the moment promoting [The Rover](movie:395105) and [Maps to the Stars](movie:7142), but he could not escape the inevitable Twilight questions from eager journalists on the red carpet.
When pressed about the Twilight franchise launching him into the stratosphere of superstardom, the ever-modest actor revealed it was a complete surprise to him. He explained that;
No one thought it was going to be a big deal. We thought it was going to be like ‘Thirteen'
In reference to Twilight director Catherine Hardwicke's first movie.
The intrepid interviewers then went on to ask the 28-year-old actor if he would consider returning for another instalment as the sparkling Edward Cullen. Pattinson answered;
I couldn't do another ‘Twilight’ movie. I'm too old
Too old?! Come on now, Rob. You're hardly geriatric!
I know pushing the age boundaries can be fraught with cringeworthy, crinkly 'teenagers', but there are exceptions. Stacey Dash was 28-years-old when she was played It-girl Dionne Davenport in the '90s teen classic Clueless. Not to mention a 28-year-old Leonardo DiCaprio nabbing a Golden Globe as 16-year-old Frank Abagnale in 2002's Catch Me If You Can.
Do you really think Robert Pattinson is too old to return to his Twilight roots, or is he just making excuses for moving on with his career?
Is Robert Pattinson really too old to return as Edward Cullen?
