Announced last year author JK Rowling has once again teamed up with Warner Bros Studios to create a spin-off of her book Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Writing the script herself, Rowling has shared details that the film will take place seventy years before the Harry Potter stories centering on Newton Scamander, a famed Magizoologist.

Another possible reunion is in the works: Director of Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and recently Academy Award nominated film Gravity, Alfonso Cuaron is rumored to return to the Harry Potter series.

According to Collider

...Reporter Nikki Finke tweets that Cuaron is “deep in talks” to take the director’s chair on the Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them. Should the deal come through, Cuaron would return to the world of Harry Potter a decade after helming arguably the best film in the franchise, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. The script for Fantastic Beasts was written by author J.K. Rowling herself, and though the story takes place in the same universe as Harry Potter, it’s set in an earlier time period and doesn’t involve any of the main characters from the series....

While this is a rumor and has not yet been confirmed, the third film of the Harry Potter franchise Prisoner of Azkaban is popularly revered by fans for adding a gothic and darker motif to the series as Potter transitioned into his teenage years and battling against Voldemort. If the news is indeed true, the dark, honest nature of Cuaron's direction is bound to be once again fulfilling for fans and audiences. Fantastic Beasts is set to hit cinemas November 18th, 2016.

Do you think Alfonso Cuaron is the best directing choice?
