February 18th we were given the first official trailer for Marvel's next film in their universe known as the Guardians of the Galaxy. Now, 3 months later we are given a second trailer with plenty of new footage and the same tremendous fun feel the first one gave us. Check it out here!
Wow, I'm blown away again. This trailer did another fantastic job of introducing us to all of these characters, dancing around the plot, giving us some great humor and PLENTY of action to have us just drooling at the edge of our seats waiting for August. Marvel has been really smart with giving us plenty to see but not giving away the entire plot of the film.
What do we really know the film is about now for those who haven't read the comics? We know these five are imprisoned and escape. We know they are a rag-tag group of "losers" that no one really believes in and finally we know that in some form the fate of the entire universe is in their hands. I don't know about you but that's all I need to know and I'm loving every bit of it.
I can only compare Marvel's marketing strategy to another Marvel property not owned by Marvel/Disney that is owned by Fox the X-Men franchise. I am a huge X-Men fan more than any other comic book characters or team. The X-Men films have been very hit and miss over the years but this Friday we will see if they are still on track after 2011's X-Men First Class. The issue I had for the marketing of [X-Men: Days Of Future Past](movie:203942) is that they have released so many teasers/trailers over the past couple months I feel I've seen a huge chunk of the film. That really has me worried of being disappointed or let down when I go see it this Thursday at midnight.
However, when it comes to Marvel and [Guardians of the Galaxy](movie:424073) they know exactly what they are doing. This trailer fills every appetite you could be seeking in a trailer. It pushes all the right buttons and leaves us with intrigue and a great deal of the film left up for interpretation until it's August release.
Just a month ago in April we had Marvel's amazing sequel film [Captain America: The Winter Soldier](movie:254973) that left us simply blown away by the brutally gritty action and the serious tone not all Marvel films were able to pull off so well. For my thoughts on Captain America: The Winter Soldier check this out:
What has Marvel done just before the release of Fox's X-Men: Days of Future Past? They've given us a amazing slice out of what we have in stored for us back in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in a few months. It's really going to be a treat to see!
