If you've missed recent headlines, everybody who knows and loves Marvel superheroes is buzzing about the new rumors (that have this awful habit of turning out to be true)! Zac Efron has recently gotten his hands on a script for an upcoming Marvel Studios project. This news isn't too much of a surprise, since Zac Efron's comedy Neighbors recently made top weekend box office, and you know, he has that really famous history with Marvel's parent company Disney and all.

It seems superhero movies have decided to turn towards male eye-candy, like Channing Tatum recently being cast as [Gambit](movie:612399), in order to bring in a bigger female crowd (which apparently works well considering [Captain America: The Winter Soldier](movie:254973)'s box office). However, the question isn't why Zac Efron? The question is: Which character?!

What superhero does Marvel Studios want Zac Efron to play? Though the studio can pick any superhero they have the rights to, I've put together a list of the 5 top heroes most likely to be adapted that fit Zac Efron's general physique and acting skillset. Here we go!

#5: Quasar

Quasar is an extremely important character in the Infinity Gauntlet comic series: the very series that has been all but confirmed to be the storyline that Avengers 3 will follow! This superhero also has ties into S.H.I.E.L.D. and the Kree! S.H.I.E.L.D. having obvious ties to the MCU, while the Kree have more recent and subtle importance in the MCU as of late (which I'll elaborate more on later on with another character below).

Quasar may have been teased slightly, if not by accident, with Jane Foster's mentioning of a Quantum Field Generator. Quasar's power is sourced from a limitless energy source called the Quantum Zone, and can use this energy to open portals which he calls Quantum Jumps! This could definitely have some major ties into [Thor: The Dark World](movie:206462) which features a main plot with a lot of dimension jumping. Could Asgard's bridge use this same Quantum Zone energy to teleport?!

#4: Adam Warlock

Similar to Quasar, Adam Warlock is also a very important character in the Infinity Gauntlet, however his involvement plays much more key roles to the storyline, and his existence may have already been easter-egged at the end of Thor: The Dark World when an object within a glass case was spotted that highly resembles Adam Warlock's cocoon.

#3: Nova

Nova seemed to have been all but forgotten about up until recent years after it was revealed that Guardians of the Galaxy would be including the intergalactic police force known as the Nova Corps within the film that comes out this August. The Nova Corps have had some minor connections with the Guardians throughout the comics, but what they're mainly connected with is a superhero from their very own ranks: Nova.

The suggestions to a potential Nova movie or the character appearing in future Guardians of the Galaxy films are much larger than most people realize. In fact, Rhomann Dey, a character from the comics whose sole actions in the comics were to grant Nova his superpowers and add him to Nova Corps ranks, has become a much more major character in the [Guardians of the Galaxy](movie:424073) film! Having even appeared more in the first Guardians trailer than Rocket Raccoon and Groot combined.

#2: Captain Mar-Vell

Captain Marvel is, believe it or not, a very classic hero on the roster for the Avengers. His very existence in the Marvel Universe is the reason Carol Danvers, better known as Ms. Marvel or recently renamed Captain Marvel, as upon his death, her DNA was merged with his alien DNA to give her superpowers. This fact would seem highly unimportant except for the fact that Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige has suggested Ms. Marvel may becoming a movie in a matter of years and confirmed that years ago a rough draft of a script was written for a Ms. Marvel movie and everything!

Captain Marvel is also part of an alien species known as the Kree, which was recently namedropped in Marvel's [Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.](series:722469), suggesting that this alien species may end up becoming a major part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future.

#1: Daredevil

Unfortunately, Daredevil is most likely the title they are looking at for Zac Efron. Filming for the Netflix series is set to begin this summer in New York and still not a single cast member has been named for any of the projects. Crazy! Come on! We don't have much patience! In the comics, Daredevil's secret identity Matt Murdock is almost never seen without his costume or large black shades which cover much of his face. Thanks to this, as long as you have someone with muscle and the right hair, you've got yourself a Matt Murdock pretty darn easily.

This is the only confirmed and announced project of Marvel Studios that seems reasonable enough for Efron to play. However, since the series is set to go straight to Netflix, and Marvel Studios has suggested about 200 Million for the budget of the 5 Netflix projects (divided evenly gives Daredevil 40 Million for development), Zac would be taking a major decrease in his paycheck to play this part. Would he still do it for such little pay?
