Who doesn't like clowns? Apparently a lot of people. Here's my list of the 5 creepiest clowns in horror movie history.

5) Captain Spaulding - (House Of 1000 Corpses, Devil's Rejects)

What's the matter kid? Don't ya like clowns? Why? Don't we make ya laugh? Aren't we fuckin' funny? You best come up with an answer, cos I'm gonna come back here and check on you and your momma and if you ain't got a reason why you hate clowns, I'm gonna kill your whole fucking family.

4) Killer Klowns - (Killer Klowns From Outer Space)

Although the Killer Klowns are meant to be almost comedic, they sure do freak me out! These aliens are here to feed, and by that I mean shoot people with their ray guns, turning them into a melted bloody cotton candy cocoon mess.

3) Clown Doll - (Poltergeist)

Starting off as just a harmless child's toy, this clown doll becomes possessed with an evil spirit and attacks young Robbie in his bed. It's fair to say that even the Scary Movie version of this clown doll frightens us!

2) Zombie Clown - (Zombieland)

I find lots of things disturbing. Like undertow, or department store centers, being alone with a baby. But the thing I fear more than anything, yes, even more than zombies. Fucking clowns.

Poor Columbus, he had to face two of his biggest fears at the same time.

1) Pennywise The Dancing Clown (Stephen King's IT)

In 1960, seven outcast kids known as "The Loser Club" fight an evil demon who poses as a child-killing clown. 30 years later, they are called back to fight the same clown again.

Was there ever any doubt that Pennywise would take the top spot on this list? Tim Curry's classic portrayal of the demonic clown is nothing to laugh at. What makes this creature so frightening is that only the kids in 'The Loser Club' can see it, so they have to be the ones to destroy it!

Fun Fact: On the DVD commentary track, the actors note that Tim Curry's characterization of Pennywise was so creepy and realistic that everyone avoided him during the filming. We were also told that Pennywise's hair isn't a wig, but in fact Tim Curry's real hair!
