Bryan Singer caused quite the controversy (no, not that one, I'm talking about last year!) when it was revealed that the character of Quicksilver would feature in his X-Men: Days of Future Past, with the announcement coming in just after the news that Marvel Studios had added Pietro Maximoff and his sister Scarlet Witch to the superhero assembly in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Now, talking explicitly about the decision first-hand, the X-Men: Days Of Future Past writer Simon Kinberg has revealed more details about the controversy:

It wasn’t something we anticipated because we didn’t know they were using him in the Avengers movie. We only found that out…it got publicized, I think, weeks after we made the decision that we had done it, and then after that, even, it was a little while before the controversy started in terms of them using him too.

He continued:

We talked about bringing Scarlet Witch into the mix for this film. Actually, there was a little scene that we shot that we ended up cutting out of the movie that alluded to her. But it was sort of an interstitial scene that didn’t push the movie forward, so it ended up being cut…But [Quicksilver] would absolutely be back for the next X-Men movie.

So, it seems we can now add Evan Peters to the growing list of characters in X-Men: Apocalypse!

Did you guys see Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch more as Magneto's kids or as part of The Avengers? And which version of the siblings are you most looking forward to seeing?

X-Men: Days Of Future Past arrives in theaters this Friday, May 23, 2014.
