Attention Pretty Little Liars fans, ( don't pretend you've never seen it ) creator and showrunner Marlene King will adapt Danielle Vega's horror novel The Merciless for an upcoming film. The Merciless, which will be released on June 12 by Razorbill Books, is inspired by real events and tells the age old story of good girls gone bad. When the new girl at a small town high school gets taken in by the popular girls, they compel her into joining them in a dangerous exoricism.

If you aren't familiar with Pretty Little Liars, it is a television show that, at a glance, seems superficial and mind numbingly girly. However, it is a wickedly addicting show with layered and complex female characters and wait for it.....Hitchcock references. That's right; a show about a bunch of perfectly coiffed and outfitted girls is, at times, an Alfred Hitchcock love letter in disguise. If you aren't familiar with Pretty Little Liars, fear not, King is a woman of cultivated taste and any book that has it's film rights sold before the book is even made available to the public is usually worth the hype. I will certainly be keeping my eye on this and will keep you updated.
