And not just in America. The Hans Christian Anderson fairy-tale turned Disney animated musical has managed to move right on past [Iron Man 3](movie:24391) to become the fifth highest grossing film worldwide with a total of $1.219 billion!

Now, you may be wondering how a movie that came out 6 months ago is able to still bring in box office sales, especially since it's been out on DVD for quite a while. It turns out that the film is still running in international theaters, including Japan (where it is apparently a big hit).

Since the film has surpassed Iron Man 3 in ticket sales, that also means Frozen was the highest grossing film of 2013! Not bad for a movie everyone wrote off thanks to a trailer that featured a fight over a carrot.
