Has Wolvie gone and let the cat out of the bag?
X-Men: Days Of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse producer Lauren Shuler Donner recently confirmed that Channing Tatum has been cast as Gambit, the matter-charging mutant, a character that was previously played by Taylor Kitsch.
But two days ago, when Tatum was asked how he felt about being cast as Gambit, his response was quite interesting: Turns out his casting in the movie is not yet a done deal. He revealed:
I hope to be joining - everything's not done yet. I've obviously been in talks, and we're on the one yard line. I'm always afraid of being like, 'Yes it's totally happening' and then it doesn't happen.
So, it looks like there's still a chance this could all fall through. But, whatever the state of Tatum's contract negotiations, Wolverine actor Hugh Jackman seems to think that Tatum has been locked down to play the superhero in X-Men: Apocalypse as he publically referenced Tatum having "just signed on" and "joined the family."
This could mean one of two things: Either Jackman is simply repeating what he's heard through rumors and has missed out on the last piece of the Gambit puzzle, or, he could perhaps know something that we don't with regard to the state of Tatum's contract negotiations.
What do you guys think at this point? Is Tatum ready to fill Taylor Kitch's shoes? While I liked the underutilized mutant at the time, I do want to see that Cajun accent become mutantized...
