French director Olivier Assayas brought Clouds of Sils Maria to Cannes Film Festival this year and, with him, came one of the starriest debuts in the 2014 competition - former brooding Twilight star, Kristen Stewart.

Stewart's new flick - in which she plays a headstrong assistant to a major move star - had everything you could dream about for a Cannes Film Festival world premiere.

The actress made famous for playing Bella Swan in the sparkly vampire franchise got the lion's share of praise at the film festival this year, for a performance that more than one reviewer has decribed as career-changing. Seemingly, Stewart has never before exuded so much class and subtlety.

Clouds of Sils Maris has also been slated as Stewart's best role to date: inthe movie she's sharp and refined, and - without revealing too much - a late twist in the movie is handled by the former Twilight actress with an expert lightness of touch.

In the movie, Academy Award winning actress Juliette Binoche plays Maria Enders, a middle-aged actress who is asked to participate in a revival of the play that her a star twenty years ago. Withdrawing to the Swiss town of Sils Maria to rehearse with her assistant (that's KStew), Maria has to come to terms with the fact that the role she played back in the day is now cast with a young, up-and-coming starlet (Chloe Grace Moretz).
