It's been a busy week for fans of Daredevil news: First director Drew Goddard stepped down to have [Spartacus](series:721017)' Steven S. DeKnight step in! And now this: British actor Charlie Cox has been chosen to play [Daredevil](movie:47230) in the upcoming Netflix miniseries developed by Marvel. He's the first actor to be confirmed for the 13-episode series that will signal a slew of Marvel series offerings, including [Marvel's Agent Carter](series:1119765) on ABC.

Cox is best known for his role as Owen Slater in HBO's [Boardwalk Empire](series:200674), and he has also guest starred on [Downton Abbey](series:251870). The relatively well-known actor will be also be appearing in the upcoming film, [Dracula Untold](movie:917159), and you may also recognize him from Stardust (2007).

In Daredevil, Cox will be playing Matt Murdock, a blind lawyer-turned-crimefighter. It's been a decade since Marvel first attempted to depict the Horn Head with Ben Affleck (or as you may know him...Batfleck), but this time around, they're banking on the proven format of Netflix streaming.

Speaking of Netflix, they're also set to premiere several other big Marvel projects, including [Luke Cage](movie:586393), [Iron Fist](movie:6462), The Defenders, and Jessica Jones.

While the new Daredevil series is still far away, keep checking back here to stay posted on new casting updates as production gets underway!
