Really, is there anything Dan Radcliffe can't do? He does comedies, massive franchises, theater, musicals, horror movies... It was only a matter of time before romance was on the cards.
In What If (formerly titled The F Word), Radcliffe stars as Wallace, a medical school dropout who has had his fair share of bad relationships. And he is about to embark on the most frustrating one yet - when he falls in love with the enchanting Chantry (Zoe Kazan) at a party. As can be expected, the beautiful young woman is already in a long term relationship with her dependable boyfriend Ben (Rafe Spall). Wallace decides to settle for the next best thing: a platonic relationship. But as sparks continue to fly, their friendship is repeatedly put to the test...
(Don't worry, guys, all of this happened when Harry and Ginny were on a break.)
Fight your way through the "friend zone" barrier, my brother!
Watching this, I'd say Radcliffe has successfully broken away from the Harry Potter attachment. (That said, I've found it Siriusly hard not to make any HP puns up until now...) However, now I no longer need to go and watch What If, because this trailer was like a 3 minute Cliff's Notes version. Unless there's some huge twist in the ending...
What If arrives in theaters on August 1, 2014.
