Kristen Stewart seems hell bent on gnawing the fingers right off of the hand that feeds these days. Maybe it is her gruelling schedule, but the 24-year-old actress seems to be really down on her career of choice at the moment.
When interviewed by Reuters, Stewart explained how she felt that performer's desire to present themselves positively to the public was destroying quality movie making. The [American Ultra](movie:1165829) actress said that;
I don't do what I do to control perception or make people think a certain way about me. That would be traipsing all over the experience of making any film. It's just so ass-backwards to me. I don't know how people do that. I don't know how people tactfully traverse their careers. I don't know how they choose, 'Well, this is a different side of me people have not seen and so I will present that to them now.' It's like, 'Why are you doing this for other people? You should be doing it for yourself.' And so I've functioned from that position since I started, and therefore I really don't care about all that
Kristen then went on to make a swipe at the career that made her rich and famous by sharing her opinion that acting is movies is "ridiculous". The star explained that;
You know, to make a movie is so ridiculous. We're going to go film each other pretending to be other people so other people can watch us pretending to be other people? It's insane
Before going onto wax poetic about how much she enjoyed her time behind the camera and how she would love to become a director by telling interviewers that;
I want to make movies one day, like absolutely I want to direct movies. I directed this music video (for indie band Sage + The Saints) and I was like, it's just this dinky little thing and it's fun, and I'm so happy to do it, but it's going to be a big deal, no matter what... Even if I shoot it on a Polaroid camera, people will be like, 'What did she do? Let's take a look.' It's like, 'How about you give me a second to figure it out?'
On one hand, I can't blame Kristen for beginning to resent being so thrust into the public eye because of her acting career. She is a young woman who has been hounded and demonized by the press since her Twilight days, and that has to really hurt.
That being said, KStew is prone to making statements that make her seem incredibly ungrateful about what she has achieved, and that really doesn't seem wise after her movie [Clouds of Sils Maria](movie:902082) is received such critical acclaim at Cannes.
Do you think Kristen Stewart seems ungrateful about her career?
