Just a few weeks after the male-heavy cast list was revealed for Star Wars Episode VII, two new actors have been announced.

Lupita Nyong'o (who won an Oscar for her performance in [12 Years A Slave](movie:222641)) and Gwendoline Christie (Brienne from HBO's [Game of Thrones](movie:817617)).

Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy had this to say about the announcement:

“I could not be more excited about Lupita and Gwendoline joining the cast of Episode VII. It’s thrilling to see this extraordinarily talented ensemble taking shape.”

Personally, I'm a little sad to see that Lupita probably won't be joining the X-Men as a younger Storm (which i've been rooting for), but I'm thrilled that Christie will be lending her talents.

Christie/Brienne is certainly a GoT fan favorite as the female knight holding her own in a world ruled by men. If they cast her as a villain, she'd be fine, but I can't help but root for Christie regardless.

Lupita on the other hand would make a perfect villain. Maybe a new Ventress?

Nyong'o and Christie have joined John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson and Max von Sydow in the regular cast. That also includes original trilogy cast members, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew and Kenny Baker.

Star Wars Episode VII opens December 18, 2015.
