With [The Walking Dead](series:201193) not starting again until October, and [Game of Thrones](movie:817617), Mad Men and Arrow all just wrapping up, I've found myself with a void of what to watch to keep me going until they all start again. With that in mind I started looking around for upcoming series and I found what I hope will be a gem.
[The Strain](series:936019): Based on a trilogy of books from Guillermo del Toro (Hellboy, [Pacific Rim](movie:204401) ) and Chuck Hogan it tells the story of a Vampire plague infecting the world beginning in New York and a CDC Doctor and his group trying to fight to save the world.
Now before you say, "OMG!! More vampires, I'm so sick of them I can't take anymore", well these ain't your Twilight vampires, no no no these are your Blade 2 vampires ugly, fast and vicious.

I loved the books and so to hear that they will make a series was amazing. The makers of the show have also agreed that it will run for 3-5 seasons no more and no less, that's the confidence they have in the project.
In my opinion this will do for vampires, what The Walking Dead has done for zombies. It will reinvent and reinvigorate the genre which was becoming old and boring.
So what do you think? Will you be tuning in from July or do you prefer the good looking young vampires??
