Netflix original series, Hemlock Grove returns July 11. As with the previous season, all ten episodes will be made available at midnight. Based on the Brian McGreevy novel, Hemlock Grove is a mysterious place inhabited with gypsies, werewolves, vampires(?) and many other unique characters. Resident matriarch, Olivia Godfrey, is played with fierce power and a questionable accent by Famke Janssen. I am really looking forward to learning more about Olivia's backstory; we were gifted with a small backstory in the first season, but it only grazed the surface.
Produced by Eli Roth of Cabin Fever and Hostel fame, the series has an overall dream like quality to it and every time you think you know what is going on, the rug gets pulled out from under you. As we return to Hemlock Grove, we will find Roman (Bill Skarsgard) and Peter Rumancek (Landon Liboiron) dealing with the fallout of a recent massacre. Roman must also deal with his strained relationship with his mother and the disappearance of his sister.
Though it has received mixed critical reviews, the fans loved the first season and demanded a second. Hemlock Grove is a bit True Blood, a bit Grimm and a lot of camp and that is why I keep returning to it.
What are you most excited to see in the second season of Hemlock Grove?
