Well, that was fast. Immediately following the news that Marvel has tapped Scott Derrickson as the film's director, Doctor Strange may also already have its star.

In an article by Badass Digest, writer Devin Faraci claims:

"I have also heard that Marvel likes (or liked, I don't know what the current status of this is) Jared Leto for Stephen Strange. God help us all if that's true."

Now, that's far from a confirmation, but considering the fact that Marvel is gearing to reveal some major casting information in the upcoming San Diego Comic Con, this could be an attempt to gauge early buzz.

So, Jared Leto. What do you guys think?

The actor has recently received acclaim for his starring role in last year's [Dallas Buyers Club](movie:602072), though his most popular film would probably be Requiem for a Dream (2000). While many fans seem divided on this potential casting decision (including Faraci), I have to say that I'm all for it. Leto looks the part, and his weird, mysterious vibe would lend perfectly to the Sorcerer Supreme.

But for now, I'm far from getting my hopes up.
