When you were a rugrat playing robots vs monsters, how many of you wished it was for real? How many of you wished you could see it on the big screen? How many of you were glad it happened in the summer of 2013 and thought it kicked ass?! [Pacific Rim](movie:204401) was one of those movies where you sit back, and let your inner child loose. It wasn't suppose to be taken seriously. All it needed was a decent plot, simple story telling, half decent script and writing, but a over-the-top amazing visuals to make it come alive.

Pacific Rim was a glorious spectacle with its top notch graphics, and CGI fight choreography. When Gipsy Danger whipped her sword out for the first time, it was definitely a "F*ck yea!" moment for me.

We could be getting that feeling again. Buzzfeed recently sat down with director Guillermo del Toro to talk about his upcoming TV series The Strain, when he was asked about the possibility of a sequel to last year's monster bashing:

“I’m working very, very hard with Zak Penn ("The Incredible Hulk"),” he told Buzzfeed. “We’ve been working for a few months now in secret. We found a way to twist it around. Travis Beacham [co-writer of the first film, now working on Fox’s Hieroglyph] was involved in the storyline and now I’m writing with Zak because Travis has become a TV mogul.”

Legenday Pictures has not yet green lit production for [Pacific Rim 2](movie:775756). Pacific Rim didn't do so well in the US box office, but with the global and home sales figures it did, it would only make sense that the studio would want to consider making another run, right?

As for the script, del Toro did say that Raleigh Becket (Charlie Hunnam) and Mako Mori (Rinko Kikuchi) will make a return for the sequel (not a prequel), and he does promise it to be a more crazy and a greater spectacle.

Personally I would geek out to see him go up against [Godzilla](movie:45291). THAT would be awesome but hey a kid can dream right?
