When speculation first began for the upcoming Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, we were fed rumors that the titular heroes would be adult, alien explorers, thus making their "TMNT" banner incredibly irrelevant (it would have just been Ninja Turtles).

Thankfully, the rumors were put to bed by its producer, Michael Bay, and the title was returned to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles in an attempt to prevent anymore backlash from fans.

But ComicBookMovie has discovered something that could prove the turtles are meant to be adults, after all. Below is a product display of several TMNT that noticeably include "teen" versions of the turtles that evolve into "adults."

Ut-oh...

Those of you who are relentlessly optimistic will at least notice that at the very least, the presence of the "turtle" on the left indicates that they're not aliens (unless they're alien turtles? God help us).

Granted, the adult designs are definitely a cool and exciting direction to take with these icons, but I'm honestly not understanding why Paramount doesn't have faith in the source material. There's a reason it's been fueling the franchise for 30 years.
