Tracy Morgan, star of Saturday Night Live and 30 Rock, has been left in critical condition following a crash on the New Jersey turnpike which took the life of fellow comedian and friend James McNair. Morgan had been travelling home from a show in Delaware in a Limo bus in the early hours of Saturday morning when a truck crashed into them and tipped the vehicle over. Morgan's representative, Lewis Kay, stated that:
He sustained these injuries in an accident that occurred early this morning as one of several passengers in a chauffeured SUV returning from a tour date in Delaware. His family is now with him and he is receiving excellent care. We don't anticipate much of a change in his condition today but will provide a further update once more information becomes available.
The truck driver has since been charged for the incident and will face trial for one count of death by auto and four counts of assault by auto. A long haul driver; reportedly he hadn't slept for 24 hours.
Steve Patterson from CBS posted this photo on Saturday.
At time of writing, Morgan remains unconscious and critical in Johnson University Hospital in New Jersey.
James McNair had been writing for Morgan's tour. He was 62 years old. May he rest in piece.
More on this as it comes in.
