So, Jeremy Renner has announced his return as Chief Analyst Agent Brandt for [Mission: Impossible 5](movie:373501). If any of you are fans of, and or remember the previous movie, Brandt became a little more than an 'analyst' as the film went on.

In a recent interview with Yahoo, Renner, while being asked about the potential of appearing in [True Detective](series:755331) essentially confirmed his involvement with M:I 5.

Here's what he had to say:

It's kind of unlikely. In fact, I'm kind of strapped time-wise doing Avengers 2, and Mission: Impossible 5 is rearing its head, and then they want to do another Bourne movie. It's unlikely I can find the time right now. And that's all right. It's just really high-class problems — pretty awesome to have. Even if I really wanted to do it, which I don't, I couldn't.

I won't spoil anything for those of you who haven't seen the fourth movie but Jeremy Renner's character is one of the best elements of the movie. What's very impressive is that Renner, despite arrow-heading his own franchise (The Bourne Legacy) and even sharing the lead role with Ben Affleck in The Town, manages to never overpower Tom Cruise's performance. You could say 'that's because it's Tom Cruise', but if history can teach us anything with The Town and The Hurt Locker, it's that Renner can dominate the screen if he really wants to. He handles his slightly lower status very well and I think this performance as Brandt shows a great skill and intelligence in the actor.

I'm actually quite looking forward to M:I5 as I thought the fourth movie was one of the best in the series. It had the elements that I liked in the first movie. Content and style were working well hand in hand, as opposed to M:I 2 where it seemed as though Ethan Hunt was shoe-horned into that John Woo script that's perpetually being remade over and over and over; Face Off, The Killer, A Better Tomorrow, Broken Arrow etc.

Directed by Christpher Mc Quarrie (the hugely underrated Jack Reacher), I think we are in for something special with M:I5.

Is M:I5 your thing?
