In honor of the upcoming [Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice](movie:711870), as well as Batman's 75th Anniversary I thought we would talk about some of the most Popular Batman Outfits. Here are some of the options...
This is really the Oldest Outfit, as originally designed by creator Bob Kane. The gauntlets don't have the forearm spikes yet and Purple is added to the Black and Grey color scheme.
This is the Classic 1966 TV Show Outfit. The costume designers substituted Purple for the Black and the Grey is almost a Periwinkle. The Cowl design was far superior to any cinematic attempt prior to this show.
It's the Costume that Batman used In Frank Miller's Classic "The Dark Knight Returns." It is a homage to the Classic Black & Grey outfit with Spikes on the forearms of the Gauntlets. There have been subtle variations over the years since, but this is the Classic Black & Grey Batsuit.
In the 1970's in the comics as well as the Hanna/Barbera cartoons, The Batsuit color scheme switched to a Royal Blue & Grey. This was the Neil Adams era of Batman. Rumor has it this will be the color for the upcoming [Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice](movie:711870).
Cinematic Batsuits 1989-2012
One thing the Cinematic Batsuits all have in common is that they are all black- in some cases with a black & yellow Bat Logo (The Tim Burton Batsuits) The other suits from 1995 onward were entirely black except for the Utility Belts. These suits were actually body armor with muscular contours rather than the men-in-tights outfits prior.
