The Electronic Entertainment Expo, or E3 as it is more commonly referred to, is the annual trade fair for the computer and video games industry. Typically held in late May or early June, every year at the Los Angeles Convention Center, t's a literal orgy of video game trailers, demos, displays, exclusives and booth babes. And since it is open only to those in the industry, the general public is forced to experience it from afar - through streaming videos of live coverage and interweb posts from those lucky enough to be in attendance.

Gathered here are some of the biggest announcements and exclusive trailers to come out of E3 2014.

During Microsoft's E3 presentation, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics released an official teaser trailer for Rise of the Tomb Raider, as well as an official description for the follow-up to their 2013 reboot of Tomb Raider.

"Rise of the Tomb Raider continues the story of Lara Croft as she seeks to learn more about the deeper, secret world she has discovered around her. Obsessed by what she has seen, Lara is now threatened by a shadow organization intent on killing her for what she knows. She is pushed to her physical and mental limits as she seeks the truth buried deep within the tombs of an ancient world. To unravel the mystery of a Lost City, Lara must use her survival skills and wits, learn to trust new friends, and ultimately accept her destiny as the Tomb Raider."

Rise of the Tomb Raider will be released Holiday 2015.

Another Tomb Raider game was also announced. Crystal Dynamics revealed a trailer for Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris, the sequel to 2010's Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light for Xbox Live Arcade and PlayStation Network.

"In her new adventure, Lara Croft travels to Egypt and must join forces with rival archaeologist Carter Bell and imprisoned gods Horus and Isis, to defeat the evil god Set. Featuring a four-player co-op story, players must work together to explore the temple, defeat hordes of enemies from the Egyptian underworld, solve devious puzzles, and avoid deadly traps. All the while, players will compete for treasure, powerful artifacts, and ultimate bragging rights."

From the Electronic Arts presentation at E3, here's the trailer for Star Wars Battlefront!

Before we get to see the Dark Knight interrogate the Penguin, the video is "interrupted" by the Scarecrow, who has a message for Batman.

Sony announced that there will be exclusive content available on the PS4 version of Batman: Arkham Knight, including Scarecrow nightmare missions.

"Scarecrow has returned to unite the Rogues Gallery and has enlisted the Arkham Knight and his immense military force to bring all-out War to Gotham City and destroy the Batman once and for all. The Dark Knight must utilize the Batmobile's newly-revealed Battle Mode, as well as his full arsenal of abilities, to protect his city from complete destruction."
