Given that the first feature-length SpongeBob adaptation raked in a whopping $140 million at the box office, it's absurdly surprising that it's been nearly ten years since The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie.
Still, at last, fans of the creature who closely resembles a large kitchen sponge and lives in a pineapple under the sea (because...obviously!) can start getting excited about The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, which is set for release next February.
Although we don't really know what to expect from the sequel at this point, the new poster's given us a couple of clues. Take a look at this:
Going by that, it looks like Sponge Out of Water will be combining CGI animation with real actors and settings. Leaving the water was a running gag on the SpongeBob cartoon series and our loveable protagonist had a different look for when that happened... A bit like this:
Let's hope Paramount's budget takes it further than that, shall we?
