When movies are first released in cinemas, it is basically put in a battle royale for the most box office money. Things can get interesting in the box office, the movie that was once ridiculed for looking terrible or that movie you said nobody will ever see is now making 150 million dollars every week. Let's take a look at the top 5 movies making the most money at the moment, shall we?

5. A Million Ways to Die in the West- $7.35 Million

Seth McFarlane has had a lot of praise in the past for his popular TV show 'Family Guy', and his movie 'Ted', so it's no surprise that his new movie is making money. I am a fan of Seth's work so far, so I thought this looked pretty funny, but according to the critics it's not. I usually don't listen to what people think about a movie and let myself decide, so I am probably going to see this at some stage.

'A Million Ways to Die in the West' is a movie about a farmer that falls in love with a woman, but in order to be with her he must face-off with her gunslinging husband.

IMDb rating: 6.4 (average)

4. X-Men: Days of Future Past- $15.2 Million

I saw X-men a couple weeks ago and it was a great movie, probably the best X-men movie so far. But, this isn't really making as much money as I thought it would, it is a Marvel movie. That doesn't change the quality of the movie though, if you are an X-men fan and have not seen this yet, I recommend you go see it as soon as you can. A lot of this was really well done, especially Quicksilvers scenes.

'X-men: DoF' is about the sentinels trying to eradicate every mutant ever, and there's nothing they can do about it. As a last minute choice, Kitty Pryde (Shadowcat) sends Woverine back in time to stop the sentinels before it's too late. In order to do so Wolverine must convince a young and stubborn Professor X and many other young and stubborn mutants to help him.

IMDb rating: 8.5 (Great)

3. Edge of Tomorrow- $28.8 Million

When this movie was announced, nobody expected it to be any good, but it was. I loved this movie a lot more than I thought I would. I have a full review here, but anyway, this movie is going pretty well in the box office with $10M more than the last movie.

'Edge of Tomorrow' is a sci-fi, action movie about a man that keeps re-living his final day in battle, and as he goes on he gets more and more skilled, and closer to destroying the enemy.

IMDb rating: 8.2 (Great)

2. Maleficent- $34.3 Million

It's no surprise that this movie is making bank, you could see from the start it was going to be successful. I have no real interest in seeing this as it is not my type of movie. I can tell that this movie will put up a good fight in the box office, but when it falls, what will take its place?

'Maleficent' is about a fairy that is driven to curse a baby princess, but she discovers that this baby may be the only person that can restore peace in her messed up world.

IMDb rating: 7.5 (Good)

1. The Fault in Our Stars- $48 Million

By now pretty much everyone has heard about John Greens crying extravaganza, 'The Fault in Our Stars'. I have not seen this yet, but I have read the book, and I loved it, but I am interested in seeing how it would translate into a movie. Hazels witty and humorous narration is the best part of the book. There was no doubt about this making loads of money, a lot of people loved the book. If you see this I recommend one thing: bring tissues. Lots of tissues.

'The Fault in Our Stars' is about two teenagers; Hazel and Gus struggling with cancer meet at a support group and fall in love, the movie focuses not only on Gus and Hazels relationship, but also their struggle with cancer.
