Buckle up, y'all, because the news I got sent to me today is pretty. freaking. awesome. Right now, we're all buzzing over the recent castings for [Star Wars: Episode VII](movie:711158), because let's face it, the news that Lupita Nyong'o and Gwendolyn Christie joining the cast is great.

But thanks to a source over at IGN Middle East who tipped us off, nerd icon and all-around beloved dude Simon Pegg is apparently in the desert of Abu Dhabi right now filming a super-secret role for Star Wars 7. The source said Pegg was spotted on set, ready to film, though it's unknown whether or not it will be a cameo or a larger role. This is all unconfirmed, but basically, I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this tantalizing news.

I feel you, bro. I feel you.
I feel you, bro. I feel you.

There's really only one way to express these feelings appropriately. Come, let me sing to you the song of my people (that's internet writers).

Gifs, people. I mean gifs.

When I first heard the news, I was like

But two seconds later, it actually sunk in and I was like

Now, some of you might not be down with this and thinking

Or terrified that he might be crossing the sci-fi franchise streams

But I say to YOU, good fellows

Because, really, most of the fandom have been hoping to see Pegg involved for a long time now, so if this is true, it means that J.J. Abrams and Disney have either been reading the internet or used the Force to read our minds.

Even though I can't stress enough to everyone reading this how this rumor is parked right in Speculation Station and is a thousand miles from getting to Confirmation Junction yet, it definitely makes sense, especially considering Pegg and Abrams are no stranger to working together, having worked on [Star Trek Into Darkness](movie:37722) and Mission Impossible 3.

And, well, we all know Pegg is an ENORMOUS Star Wars fan.

Truth. He speaks it.
Truth. He speaks it.

Let's just hope he's a little less frantically inept than he is in Star Trek...

So really, even if this source turns out to be wrong, it's a hell of a lot of fun to think about. Bottom line, let's DO THIS.

Simon Pegg in Star Wars...
