Ok, maybe the title is a little harsh. No, I'm not a big fan of these designs at all. They remind me of the Tin Man covered in rust and others look like a knock-off of the T-800 (Terminator). Still, X2 was a pretty good movie compared to the stinkers that came after it! The biggest and most important reasons why the Sentinels weren't used was the budget and the computer animation at the time.

It would've cost roughly $8 million to have the big guys star in X2. Luckily CGI is much, much cheaper and it doesn't look shabby - perfect example of the leaps and bounds CGI has made is X-Men: Days of Future Past.
