Many people have been talking about the list of movies Warner Bros. and DC Comics are planning to release in the next few years and there were a few surprises. I noticed something missing from the list: Justice League Dark! The movie has been languishing in development hell since 2012 with director Guillermo del Toro working on the script for the film.

When Nikki Finke revealed the list of movies due out between 2016 and 2018, it seems like an ambitious move for a studio that has had nothing but trouble doing comic book movies. Well, at least, doing them correctly. It is true that they have some ground to catch up on since Marvel has been running the table since 2008 with the original Iron Man.

At first my concern for the missing Justice League Dark movie was the possibility of [Constantine](movie:874314) starting off in his solo series on NBC this fall, but I quickly noticed that Flash would be teaming up with Green Lantern in their own movie together. The Flash is getting his own series this fall. I mean, it does make sense in the world of comics because those two did get along together but to have a team-up movie for Christmas, which is designed to go up against whatever Star Wars movie will be out at that time, seems a bit odd.

My thought process on this, while I love the Justice League Dark comic series, maybe Warner Bros. and DC are having the same trouble that Marvel has been having: bringing sorcery into a film series that is supposedly based in reality. Yet, they are focusing on characters that have been in many of the animated DC films and series featuring the Justice League, except [The Sandman](movie:401054). That seemed a bit random.

As Del Toro seems to be working on [Pacific Rim 2](movie:775756) and various other projects, not to mention his series [The Strain](series:936019) this summer, I get the funny feeling that we will not be seeing that movie for a while if ever. This is sad to me given the rich characters and the darker angle they can use against a powerful and light Justice League team. Although, we still have to see if this list is actually true. If it isn’t, there may still be hope.
