Bryan Cogman, the writer, story editor and producer of HBO's hit television series Game of Thrones has signed on for a new fantasy-themed movie in the form of Magic: The Gathering.

Magic: The Gathering is the popular card game created in 1993 that has branched out into every form of entertainment including PCs and gaming consoles. And while you might not be familiar with Cogman's name, you know his work. He's the one who brings George R. R. Martin's sadistic vision to your small screens. I'm guessing there's a very blatant reason why he's been chosen for a game with infinite and often brutal storylines...

With Game of Thrones' success, a World of Warcraft movie on the way, and Dungeons & Dragons in the works, perhaps the underrated fantasy genre of films will finally find their niche. Either way, if this Magic: The Gathering movie turns out half as good as Game of Thrones, then I'm in.

Will you be checking out Magic: The Gathering?
