The Rise of the Planet of the Apes movie, in my opinion, was a very successful reboot, this is a very good story driven film that includes great special effects and matches the original and was one of the best films of 2011. And now onto the highly anticipated sequel. But what can we expect from this sequel?
The tone of the Rise of the Planet of the Apes was fairly dark, with some sprinkles of humor, now from what we all saw from the trailers, the movie is set to much darker than its predecessor. We will certainly be seeing a darker human side as they go into how much some people have lost during the virus, and how some blame the apes for what happened, and some others don't, this will create conflict among the humans.
Another subtle hint we saw from the trailers! War is going to be a large factor in this movie, which will be made all the more tragic due to it taking place after a potential peace treaty passing through both parties. From what we see from the trailer, someone on the human side may get trigger-happy and could start an all out war between the humans and the apes, and according to the title of the movie, we have a pretty good idea of how it ends!
Box Office bomb or Box Office hit!
Rise of the Planet of the Apes made around $450 Million worldwide, which with a $93 Million Budget, it can be seen as a slight success, but must improve if they are too further pump money into the franchise. But with good reviews for Rise of the Planet of the Apes, people may be more willing to go and see the sequel, so I believe it will reach the $500-$600 million.
Another level of Motion Capture!
Andy Serkis has been Mr. Motion Capture all his life, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and now the Ape movies. And now more and more studios are preferring motion capture over straight up CGI, as it adds a more personal touch to the character. So we can certainly expect a higher level of motion capture from not only Andy Serkis, but from other Actors as well!
And before this movie has been judged, the studio announced a third film with Matt Reeves returning to direct and co-write along with Mark Bomback with a July 29, 2016 release date, so the studio must have confidence in this film!
What do you guys think, will it be a success, will it bomb at the box office, what shall we expect from this film, comment below and let me know!
