Star Wars bosses fear Harrison Ford will miss up to eight weeks of filming of their new sci-fi movie – but he is on the mend.
Doctors have now confirmed the 71-year-old actor has a broken ankle but despite reports of a pelvic injury he has no other problems and is expected to leave the hospital shortly.
Harrison’s wife Calista Flockhart said that come the weekend she is flying out to the UK to be by her husband’s side.
And whilst she helps Harrison to recover bosses will spend their time rescheduling as much of Star Wars: Episode VII as they can.
A movie source said:
“The initial day or two after the accident it was hard to move things around but now we have had more time we can juggle things, bring some scenes forward and push others back. There are lots of other actors in the movie so it is not a disaster. We are still confident the film can stay on schedule.
“At the moment it looks like Harrison is going to be off set for 6-8 weeks but the main priority is making sure he is OK.”
Ford is reprising his role as Han Solo in JJ Abrams’ Star Wars sequel, scheduled for release in December of next year.
Initially it was feared that his injury last Thursday could cost movie makers millions of pounds.
A spokesman for Star Wars said they were “Hoping to announce some good news soon.”
