This is part 2 to my original article, where I looked at movies where the trailer was better than the movie itself. This is a conundrum that Hollywood movies enter so many times a year. Here a 5 more movies that had a better trailer than movie.
5. This Is The End
I'm not saying this movie is bad at all, but I have to say I had much higher expectations that what was delivered. When I first seen the cast a couple of years ago I thought it was a match made in heaven. Then the trailer came out and it was absolutely hilarious. I was beyond excited for this flick. When I saw the movie, it was quite anti-climatic in a couple of ways.. Not giving any spoilers away but: There are times you force yourself to laugh from seeing the same jokes over and over again from the trailer or the poorly made ending. Not a disappointing film, just a tad bit of a let down.
4. Battle Los Angelas
The first trailer for this movie was absolutely fantastic. The visuals were stunning and it looked like a genuinely great action movie. The movie itself fell very flat. I found it to be a very disappointing movie all round. It was nowhere near as good as the trailer. Well done to the guy who edited the trailer to convince people to see this shambles of a movie.
3. The Amazing Spiderman 2
I don't want to sound contradictory because I love this movie, but I would be honest in saying the trailer is better. The Amazing Spiderman 2 trailer is one of the best trailers I've ever seen. I watched it countless amounts of times and been in awe each time I saw it. Between the music, the beautifully bright colours and wonderful CGI this trailer was the bomb. The movie was quite good, I enjoyed it more than most. Nevertheless it had to be said the trailer was better.
2. Gangster Squad
This trailer was stylish, edgy, cool and gritty. Ryan Gosling brought the charm, Josh Brolin brought the force, Sean Penn brought the class and Emma Stone brought the femme fatale element. It had all the ingredients to be a great movie. Stellar cast, decent plot, desirable time-frame yet the movie fails to pack a punch. I don't dislike the movie, I think its fine, but once again, the trailer is superior.
1. Man of Steel
This is hard for me to include because I love Superman. He is by far one of my favourite super hero's. I have to be honest, and say the trailer was superior to the movie. The trailer was amazing, one of the best I've ever seen. It built the movie up to a monumental state for me. A state the movie couldn't possibly live up to.
