Turtle Power: The Definitive History of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is a new documentary being released by Paramount Pictures. It'll show fans a behind-the-scenes look at the real origin story of the heroes in a half-shell, when it arrives on DVD, VOD and Digital HD on August 12.

The guys behind the doc impressively managed to land interviews with TMNT creators Peter Laird and Kevin Eastman, as well as Steve Barron, who was director of the original live action Turtles movie. Give the official trailer a watch and decide whether this'll have the COWABUNGA factor:

The conception? Three hardcore fans Isaac Elliott-Fisher, Mark Hussey, and Randall Lobb were working on the documentary since 2008. Paramount now appears to have stepped in and bought the rights, which - considering what happens to most documentaries - is pretty amazing.

Yes, this fanboy offering is now being shamelessly used as part of the promo for Michael Bay and Jonathan Liebesman's upcoming Turtles reboot. But, for the Turtles reboot skeptics among you, that's at least one good thing to come out of Michael Bay's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, so far. Right?

Does Turtle Power looks like a must watch for any true TMNT fan?
