So I was marathoning through the cartoon Avengers Assemble because I heard that it wasn't as bad as the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon (Spectacular Spider-Man was AMAZING though). Of course this new Avengers cartoon was not as great as Earth's Mightiest Heroes (EMH) but it wasn't as bad as I first thought it was going to be. Anyways, I went back to see a few episodes of EMH and I caught one episode where acting director of S.H.I.E.L.D. Maria Hill was threatening Tony Stark about registering with S.H.I.E.L.D.

Now for those of us that read the comics, we know that road leads to CIVIL WAR, a story line that could never happen in the movies the way all of the Marvel properties are divided up. Season 3 of EMH seemed poised to bring us CIVIL WAR, a huge superhero free-for-all that divides them all into two different factions, heroes that side with Iron Man (PRO registration) and heroes that side with Captain America (AGAINST registration). In another episode Nick Fury had a wall of superheroes that had Spider-Man, Wolverine, Mr. Fantastic - not to mention many guest starred throughout the season. So, Civil War, one of the biggest events in Marvel history could have happened over an entire 26 episode season because they're not constrained the way Marvel movies are in Hollywood.

Now Avengers Assemble was not as epic as EMH but they managed to really flesh out the Red Skull who is kind of a throw away villain right now in the Marvel Cinematic Universe but in the cartoon he's a huge deal and definitely an Avengers worthy villain because he's very military minded. So, if they continue down this road, they could end up doing Avengers vs. X-Men, Dark Reign, Infinity or any other number of Marvel Events only on the small screen instead of in the movies. Personally I'll totally take it where I can get it, so long as it's at least decent. How about you guys? Are you okay with these huge Marvel Events happening on the small screen in cartoon format due to Marvel properties being tied up at Sony and Fox respectively or do they really deserve the Hollywood treatment?
