With the upcoming [Daredevil](movie:47230) series on Netflix premiering next year, followed by Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist, one wonders if The Punisher is far off. He is one of the members of Marvel Knights - along with Moonknight, Blade, Power Man, Iron Fist and Daredevil: who's focus is street level crime. The kind of stuff you would find on the flawed heroes of Hell's Kitchen.
While Marvel Studios hasn't said much about The Punisher since reacquiring him from Lion's Gate, a short film by Thomas Jane that appeared in the 2012 Comic*Con entitled Dirty Laundry got fans of the character excited about the possible return of Frank Castle.
Which also begs the question: If Marvel studios brings The Punisher back to the big screen (or small screen if it's Netflix), who would play Frank Castle?
Thomas Jane played him in the 2004 release simply titled The Punisher.
Ray Stevenson played him in the 2008 Punisher: War Zone. Ray currently works for Marvel Studios and plays the Asgardian "Volstagg." That doesn't mean he wouldn't play Frank Castle again - since it's a much bigger role than he plays in the Thor movies.
Or, Marvel studios may cast a new actor to play everyone's favorite vigilante. They have similar casting questions to answer with Blade as well If/when they reboot him on either the big screen or Netflix.
Since [The Punisher](movie:1007544) is such a violent character, he would do better on a Netflix series that allows for language/violence and subject matter that is not exactly kid-friendly.
So, what do you think?
