Lars Von Trier might be known as the biggest messer in cinema these days but back in 1967 he was just an 11 year old boy. That's not to say, however, that he hadn't started gearing up to the job. This recently discovered 2 minute Super-8 animation is quite bizarre; a wee bit creepy; and, as far as we know, the auteur director's earliest work.

It's called The Trip to Squash Land (Turen til Squashland) and it features a band of singing bunnies and, of course, something that looks like a sausage riding another thing that looks like a whale. Check it out:

He certainly shows a knack for it even at such a young age, and the watercolour backdrops are quite nice too. We're not so sure what's going on at the end there, apparently that last rude word is Danish for "End", but after all that's come and gone, who's ever to know.
