Perhaps it was just me, but I have been predicting a Nova appearance through the [Guardians of the Galaxy](movie:424073) movie since I first picked up word that Rhomann Dey was a character in the movie and the Nova Corps would be a part of the movie. Before, I've touched on why I'm sure Nova has a future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and with these new reports, I've never been more certain.
Nova seemed to have been all but forgotten about up until recent years after it was revealed that Guardians of the Galaxy would be including the intergalactic police force known as the Nova Corps within the film that comes out this August. The Nova Corps have had some minor connections with the Guardians throughout the comics, but what they're mainly connected with is a superhero from their very own ranks: Nova.
The suggestions to a potential Nova movie or the character appearing in future Guardians of the Galaxy films are much larger than most people realize. In fact, Rhomann Dey, a character from the comics whose sole actions in the comics were to grant Nova his superpowers and add him to Nova Corps ranks, has become a much more major character in the Guardians of the Galaxy film! Having even appeared more in the first Guardians trailer than Rocket Raccoon and Groot combined.
Less than a month ago, word picked up that a certain huge actor was in posession of a Marvel Studios script. This actor was none other than Zac Efron! Since the only known movies with written scripts feature female leads, or people traditionally of other ethnicities than Efron's, it was seen likely that this script was for a much smaller scene or project: something like an after-credits scene.
Immediately, I thought Zac Efron would be PERFECT for the role of Richard Rider! Caucasian, dirty-blonde superhero, good with comedy (as we just saw with Neighbors), so why not right? Now things seemingly all make sense.
Very suddenly, the news of Zac Efron's attachment to Marvel nearly dropped off the face of the planet as many of the initial speculation suggested that Efron was in consideration for Daredevil, who has since been cast, and [Doctor Strange](movie:559685), which by recent reports is being cast choices of Benedict Cumberbatch and Tom Hardy. Now, at least to me, things make more sense with this in mind.
Could Zac Efron really be NOVA?! Let me know what you think! (I love debates!)
