Being a TV enthusiast who sits at home and gets all their TV information second hand makes it hard to come up with good posts for you guys. I try to do the research to make sure I don't repeat a post.
Although a thread for this show has been made, nothing has been posted about it. Being a huge Cameron Crowe, and J. J. Abrams fan, I wanted to point this out to everyone who might be interested even though it'll be a while before it finally makes it on our TV's.
Showtime recently picked up the Crowe/Abrams comedy Roadies, which will be about the people who make the concerts we all look forward to possible.
For those who don't know what a Roadie is, they are the people who handle the equipment and preparation of concerts for bands. They pack up, and unload things such as guitars, amps, drums, props, etc. and they set it up the way the band wants it. Those who have witnessed a roadie at work will see that it's a tough job that requires a lot of hard work and focus.
The hour long pilot will be written and directed by Cameron Crowe, and produced by J. J. Abrams, and Winnie Holzman.
Showtime, in my opinion, picks up some pretty good shows. Even if they don't know how to end them *CoughDexterandWeedscough*. But with Crowe and Abrams teaming up for this, I think it will be a huge hit. Crowe's Almost Famous shows that he knows how to capture the music world, and Abrams is one of the best story tellers movies and television has to offer. Even if he's had a bad run of shows since Lost ended.
I don't know what the show is gonna be about beyond roadies. I don't know the hook, and only they know what they have planned. But it seems like an original idea, and original ideas are getting pretty rare at this point in television.
