Universal have anticipated block-busting movie franchise installments in Jurassic World, Ted 2, and the Despicable Me series spinoff Minions arriving in June and July of 2015, but the studio’s plans for August of that year have changed – and for good reason, as we’ll discuss shortly. Universal’s original plan was for “Untitled Next Bourne Chapter” – which we’ve been simply calling Bourne 5 – to open that month, but now the studio has pushed the film back to Summer 2016 – and set the N.W.A. biopic Straight Outta Compton to take Bourne 5‘s old spot in 2015.

That being said, Straight Outta Compton has been given the spot previously reserved for Bourne 5, on August 14th, 2015.

In the mid-1980s, the streets of Compton, California, were some of the most dangerous in the country. When five young men translated their experiences growing up into brutally honest music that rebelled against abusive authority, they gave an explosive voice to a silenced generation. Following the meteoric rise and fall of N.W.A., Straight Outta Compton tells the astonishing story of how these youngsters revolutionized music and pop culture forever the moment they told the world the truth about life in the hood and ignited a cultural war.
