Breathing movies. Humbly writing about them.

Following the balls out brilliance David Michod showed with Animal Kingdom- his cracking oz-billy debut- it was safe to say expectations were high for his follow-up at the Cannes film festival this year.

The Rover seems to boast all the trappings of a great dystopian flick- the malevolent nameless lead; the grim outback setting; the chaos on the streets- and yet many (us included) felt that the high standards set by Animal Kingdom had failed to be reached. Indeed, the reviews, while far from terrible, were hardly warm, but just try telling that to Quentin Tarantino.

The outspoken director was totally floored by Michod's sophomore effort; to the extent that he left this gushing, glowing review:

Despite our reservations for the film we remain all-out fans of Michod's work but Tarantino's words here are bold to say the least.

But then again, no surprises there.

Still great to see such impassioned writing from a director though and, to be honest, we wish it happened more often. would Tarantino's words be enough to convince you to see it? Or perhaps you already have? Let us know below.

[The Rover](movie:395105) is in theaters now.

Would Tarantino's endorsement convince you to see it?
