There was an "exclusive" leaked yesterday by Latino-Review's El Mayimbe that states the real reason for Bourne 5's delay is due to the return of the original super agent, Jason Bourne's Matt Damon.

The Bourne Trilogy is by far one of my favorites. To me, it put the Bond movies to shame. Sorry If I upset you Bond fanboys/girls, but come on, let's be real, Bourne will take 007 any day! Anyway, getting off topic. Matt Damon started the trilogy with Bourne Identity, finishing it with Bourne Ultimatum (which was a good wrap up but still left it open). I won't spoil the films for you, they are a must see if you haven't yet. What director Paul Greengrass was able to accomplish was the PERFECT spy film. You had conspiracy, heart-pounding action, brilliant fight correography, and a story/plot that will engulf you while at the same time throwing you off with twists around every corner. Matt Damon has gone on record saying:

I've always been open to it if Paul Greengrass is the director. We've just never been able to come up with a story. So if any of your viewers have a story, please call Universal and submit it. It felt like such a good way to end it the last time... But having said that, I love that character and I'd love to see what happened to him.

After Ultimatum, we were taken into a new direction with Bourne Legacy starring Jeremy Renner as lead agent Aaron Cross. Bourne Legacy, under new leadership of Tony Gilroy, fell flat. Sure, it was entertaining, Jeremy played the party pretty well, but the story and the plot just didn't have enough substance. It basically portrayed a top agent who was trying to break hit addiction to the drugs the agency was feeding their "super soldiers". What unravels, is a rat race with an anticlimactic ending. While Renner is cast to return as Aaron Cross, could Matt Damon's return as Jason Bourne revitalize the franchise?

According to Latino-Review:

Well clearly, times have changed. According to a deeply embedded trusted source, the reason Bourne 5 got pushed to July 15, 2016 is because Matt Damon is in fact back to play his signature role as Jason Bourne for director Justin Lin!

You could take that with a FAT grain of salt as there is no real evidence to support the theory. But MY question to you is, if he DID in fact return, what does that spell for the franchise? What story could they tell? Maybe Aaron will seak out the help of Bourne to bring down the corporation when he learns they are after him.

I do not know how legit this rumor is but if it is true, I for one would LOVE to see it happen!

Who would you like to see in the next Bourne film?
