Marvel recently announced that Rosario Dawson, best known for her roles as Zoe Perez in Eagle Eye and Gail in Sin City, will be playing an integral character in the Marvel Studios and Netflix's Daredevil series. According to Marvel:

She will play a dedicated young woman whose quest to heal the wounds of Hell's Kitchen brings blind attorney Matt Murdock (Boardwalk Empire's Charlie Cox) unexpectedly crashing into her life, while her own journey forever alters the course of his battle against the injustices of this broken city.

That pretty much sums up Elektra. If she does end up playing Elektra, she'll have portrayed two of Frank Miller‘s spunky types, after Sin City‘s Gail. Dawson certainly fits the bill of Elektra and that quote shows promise she will be Elektra. Elektra was first brought to live-action by Jennifer Garner in Daredevil (2003) and Elektra.

Dawson's casting comes just a week after Vincent D'Onofrio joined the 1 series as The Kingpin. In late May, it was reported that Spartacus' Steven S. DeKnight would be taking over the reins as showrunner from Drew Goddard, who will be jumping ship to Sinister Six.

The Daredevil series is quickly shaping up to be a show that is getting many people excited for it. It will be interesting to see how the rest of the cast fills out. Right now the cast and crew seems to be a perfect fit.

Here’s the full PR.
