CineEurope has leaked quite a bit of new Disney news, especially from Marvel Studios which brings some amazing news, straight from the words of the studios' president, Kevin Feige:
So we're about to hire a writer to redo a draft, and we think we'll be casting probably in the next month or two, and announcing an actor, and then we get into production in the spring of next year.
Can we really expect to see casting for the role of Doctor Strange within the next month? Feige has previously stated when talking about casting characters that the studio will never announce a cast member until the entirety of the contractual paperwork has been complete: a good plan to avoid unnecessary drama among news sites.
The suggestion that casting could begin so soon seems to suggest that the highly rumored shortlist of actors including my personal favorite Tom Hardy, as well as Benedict Cumberbatch and Jared Leto could very well be as legitimate as they come. In fact, if casting were to begin so soon, now would be just about the time to formulate your shortlist of actors and to go into this project knowing exactly what you want from the candidates at hand.
According to Kevin Feige, production for Doctor Strange will begin in spring of 2015, which will likely secure the movie the announced mystery movie date of July 8th, 2016.
