Articles have been misleading people by saying that Rain Johnson is directing and writing both sequels to Star Wars VII. But the original source of the news states that Rain Johnson is only directing and writing Star Wars VIII and only writing Star Wars IX. Meaning that the spot is still open, so I've been thinking who I believe should take the spot for the job. When thinking about the idea a came across my top 5 directors to helm the film, and who I believe out of all of them should direct the film. So below I will state my top 5 and will state who's my top pick.

My top 5 directors to helm this film:

-Duncan Jones

In my opinion he has made very great films so far (Moon, Source Code) so he knows how to make a great sci-fi film that Star Wars IX should be. Right at this moment he is working on World of Warcraft film that is set for a 2016 release date, and recently said that he wants to work on another film after WoW, named Mute, so he might be open for the job or he might not. Source Code showed us that he can make a good romantic relationship that might be apart of the Star Wars Universe. Also Disney is interested in young directors for this universe so far, meaning that he is pretty high up on actually directing.

-Marc Webb

In my opinion he is really great with romantic films (The Amazing Spider-Man 1,2, (500) Days of Summer). He has worked with CGI, hasn't gone in the Sci-fi region yet but this film might be his break since he is open around the time of Episode IX. Also Disney is interested in young directors for this universe so far, meaning that he is pretty high up on actually directing.

-Ruben Fleischer

Has mostly done comedies (Zombieland, 30 Minutes or Less), action, comedy were big parts in those films. Also has done a serious action film (Gangster Squad). Not all of his films I liked but his directing is pretty good but 30 Minutes or Less lacked story. Also Disney is interested in young directors for this universe so far, meaning that he is pretty high up on actually directing.

-Matthew Vaughn

Has done bigger projects compared to the other ones above the list. Has worked with action, comedies, fantasy. Except for Sci-fi but he is a good candidate for this list. He is still younger director only been doing it for 10 years. He is open during this time, well if he doesn't do Kick-Ass 3 for a 2019 release.

-J.J. Abrams

He will already have one Star Wars film under his belt so he could want to go back or if he wants to do Star Trek 4 but I doubt that. I feel like they want to do what the original trilogy did by using different directors for each film. But he's really passionate for the Star Wars universe so I believe if he only does one film in this trilogy he will probably do another film in the next trilogy or a stand-alone film.

WINNER: Marc Webb ((500) Days of Summer, TASM 1,2)

I've liked all of his work, and I believe he is the man for the job. But if he's unable to do the film I would like J.J. Abrams to replace him and if he's unable I would like to see Mathew Vaughn to replace him.

EXTRA: People who should write this film

Lawrence Kasdan

He is a great Star Wars writer and a great Indiana Jones writer too, so I want to see more of his take on Star Wars.

J.J. Abrams

I believe he will still want to be apart of this film, since he is very passionate for this universe.

Rain Johnson

Since he's officially writing this film.
