The second season of [True Detective](series:755331) is right around the corner but while everyone is looking at who should be in the cast it may be high time that he change our focus to who will be directing the series moving forward.
Last season saw just one director carry all eight episodes of the show, but season two will feature more than one director, which begs the question of whether or not HBO should hire big name Hollywood directors to help out.
As opined by True Detective Rumors, someone like Martin Scorsese could be an option for HBO given their long standing relationship with the Oscar winning director.
Imagine what a True Detective episode would look like if it were directed by David Fincher, David O. Russell or David Lynch. After all, HBO already has a long standing relationship with Martin Scorsese and Quentin Tarantino directed an episode CSI back in the early 2000s.
The effort doesn't have to end with Scorsese though, as we've seen directors like Quentin Tarantino and David Fincher jump to television in the past with Fincher basically revolutionizing how we watch television shows in the process thanks to [House of Cards](series:726551).
Of course, all of this is just speculation, but should True Detective land someone like Martin Scorsese for second season episodes, then we could see the series stay on the high plain of quality it's been on since the first episode of the first season debuted.
