Damon in human form. You want it, we want it, but what's going to happen? Despite the next season of [The Vampire Diaries](series:200853) not airing until October, this idea seems to be the one that fans want most. Damon, who never wanted to be human, will finally be vulnerable and have to confess his feelings for Elena in this vulnerable human form. Well, we hope. A recent leaked poster for the show had Damon in it so we know for a fact he is returning and the poster preempts what is to come with the 'Journey Back to Ourselves' subtitle.

Julie Plec, showrunner of the hugely successful The Vampire Diaries, in a recent interview with TVLine, spoke about what role Damon and Bonnie would be playing in the upcoming Season Six. She didn't reveal too much, but enough to get us talking.

I think it means there's a mystery attached to how the show ended. Did they die? Did they find peace? Are they still on the Other Side? Does the Other Side still exist? If not, where the hell are they? And will they ever come back? Certainly, we will see Ian [Somerhalder] and Kat [Graham] again, but where and in what context? That's part of the mystery of Season 6...

Speaking of what to expect in the next season, actor Paul Wesley said that the season:

definitely establishes new parameters in the environment we'll be shooting in season six, they reset things in a way, and the writers have the ability to now change the circumstances and locations of where the show takes place.

It will be interesting to see where they go with this plot point. Considering that in the last moments of the previous season when Damon and Bonnie were on the Other Side and it is disintegrating, Bonnie asks Damon 'will it hurt?'; this implies the Damon might know something and Bonnie just wants to be reassured. It suggests fear of the unknown, not necessarily death.

Do you think Damon and Bonnie will return in the next season?
