Anyone who knows me (or sees me on the street, really) knows that I love tattoos! I especially love those that scorn the stereotypical designs; geeky tattoos, silly tattoos, beautifully detailed still life vegetables, that kind of thing.
So, I decided to look out some of the best and most beautiful superhero tattoos to share with you! For this first article (because this will absolutely become a bit of a recurring feature for me on the site!), I was inspired to look at that iconic warrior, Wonder Woman.
This jaw-dropping Lynda Carter by the portrait master, Nikko Hurtado, of Black Anchor.
Another incredibly talented portrait artist, Andrew Swarbrick at Left Hand Path.
Unfortunately, I can't find the artist to credit for this one, but I couldn't leave it out! The comic-book-panel style is just so different!
Back to portraits (I can't help it, they look so good!), I love how this one by Mike DeVries is shaped so beautifully to the contours of the collector's body.
This mix of classic DC and Sailor Jerry style pin-up girls makes me happy.
By Kirsten Holliday at Wonderland tattoos, Portland.
Another unnamed artist. Pet peeve: people who pin/tumblr/tweet/etc without crediting the artist. (Or at least saying "artist unknown"). Just plain disrespectful!
Special mention to this Wonder Woman PUG! Somehow ended up on an "ugly tattoo" website, and whoever put it there clearly has no taste.
Also to this piece by one of my favorite artists, Tim Shumate. I already have one of his pieces on me, and I just wish I had enough skin spare to collect them all!
Finally, a special bonus image....Wonder Woman with tattoos of her own!
Do any of you have a Wonder Woman tattoo? Which superhero should I showcase next? Let me know in the comments!
