Amalgam Comics is the shared DC/Marvel universe where the two properties merged their characters into one. These characters first appeared in print in a 12 comic book series that was published 1996. The company went as far as to treat the Amalgam universe as if it co-existed along side Marvel and DC during the comic book golden age. Amalgam went even further as to write ficititious fan letters to help give rise to the merged universe. Thus to create excitement in readers of DC and Marvel alike. Do you think a cinematic universe could work for these characters some time in the future. You be the judge. Here are some of Amalgams famous heros and their bios.
First lady of Marvel, and First lady of DC = Princess Ororo Munroe of Themyscrira
"Ororo was a metamutant who nearly drowned as a child, but was rescued by Queen Hippolyta of the Amazons. Hippolyta raised young Ororo as an Amazon princess beside her own daughter Diana (who as a child was very jealous of her new "sister", although the first issue of Diana's own series, Bullets and Bracelets, seemed to imply just the opposite) on the island of Themyscira. As Ororo grew up, she displayed the ability to control the weather, and the Amazons taught her how to focus her powers into a lasso of lightning that would compel anyone bound by it to speak the truth. She eventually left her island home to enter "Man's World" as "Wonder Woman", to use her abilities to help people."
Dark Claw: Bruce Wayne and Wolverine = Logan Wayne
"At the age of 5, after witnessing his parents' murder at the hands of an armed robber, Logan Wayne was sent to live with his uncle in Alberta, Canada. His uncle was a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and was ambushed and murdered by poachers a short time after his arrival in Canada. After the death of his uncle, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police sent Logan to live in a home run by nuns and as soon as he was old enough, he enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force, landing in the same outfit as Creed H. Quinn...."
"Both Logan and Creed were submitted to the Weapon X project, the Canadian Super-Soldier program. It was here that Logan had adamantium bonded to his bones and he learned of his metamutant nature. Throughout the course of the project, the other subject, Quinn, became increasingly insane and would later become Dark Claw's most dangerous enemy, the Hyena."
Super Soldier = Captain America and Superman
"Super-Soldier is an Amalgam Universe character. He's created as a fusion of the DC Comics character Superman and the Marvel Comics character Captain America. In his civilian identity he is Clark Kent, a soldier in World War II pumped with alien DNA during an experiment. Eventually he was frozen, and then unfrozen in the modern era. He has been a member of the Judgment League Avengers. "
Spider Boy = Superboy and Spiderman
"His tactile telekinesis allows him to move like a spider, and he also carries a Web-Pistol. Project Cadmus developed him as a clone of Peter Parker and was later adopted by Thunderbolt Ross, making his name Peter Ross. "
IRON LANTERN = HAL JORDAN & TONY STARK
"Hal Stark is a millionaire and the founder of Stark Aircraft. He was working on a stationary flight simulator when the device suddenly took off with him in it. Stark discovered that the flight simulator was being drawn to a crashed alien spacecraft, and the flight simulator crashed yards away from it. Stark was badly injured by shards of metal stuck in his chest. Curious to the end, Stark made his way to the alien spacecraft, where he came upon the dying alien Rhomann Sur. "
The alien died before he could speak with Hal, and Hal realized he was dying as well. With his last efforts, Stark designed a suit of armor out of the alien technology, powered by a battery he found in the wreckage, one which reminded him of a lantern. The suit of armor not only allowed him to survive, but gave him incredible powers, allowing him to create any object he pleased out of a green energy, due to the battery he used being powered by Oa the Living Planet. He battled and defeated the aliens that had shot down Rhomann Sur's spacecraft.
Well there you have it! This list of characters doesn't even begin to scratch the surface of what Amalgam created. The comics are extremely hard to find, but with some digging you can own the series!
